This blog will be relatively short in comparison to some of my other blogs. I would rather you spend the time watching these amazing content marketing videos and think about your own content. I chose these three because they are commercials, but not really. They are sponsored by brands (REI, SALOMON, RENAULT), and yet, they don’t try to sell you anything. Instead, these videos make you feel something.
In the case of Paul’s Boots, it starts off extremely sad. I made it 2 minutes before I started crying. It showcases the goodness inherent in humanity. I don’t know about you, but there are many times where I feel like all virtue is gone and we are bereft of our own basic humanity. Paul’s Boots helps restore that faith.
In The Ultimate Test Drive, I felt charged up. I had goosebumps learning about her life and the barriers she broke through to do what she did. I loved her passion and wanted that in my own life. It made me feel alive watching her drive that race car at the end. I loved it. I felt it made me a better person.
Finally, one of my favorite pieces of content marketing and one I’ve written about for my job at NUVI is the video from Salomon. Salomon is a shoe company that has expanded into many facets of outdoor sports. I was captivated as I watched this video. Again, it gave me goosebumps (must be easy to do). I loved the rawness of it. I loved seeing her emotions as she reaches her food replenishment. I loved that she literally cried because she was so swept away in emotion as she reached the top of a hard hill. I felt her same sense of pride at her success, and also her sense of frustration when she felt she couldn’t go on.
These videos create a sense of awe. They create emotion and force the viewer to feel something. Hope you enjoy.
